"Washington has no future, this artificial state will collapse; then the old Europe, that continent, which has no importance whatsoever; China is on the verge of explosion; and what remains is Russia possessing orbital launch capability: space power. Russia with lots of money, resources, and new weapons, that no one knows about them yet. With them WE WILL DESTROY any part of the planet within 15 minutes. Not an explosion, not a ray burst, not some kind of a laser, not a lightning, no, but a quiet and peaceful weapon. Whole continents will be put to sleep forever. And that's all."
The words of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Vice-Chairman of the State Duma (equivalent to the US House of Representatives), a member of Parliament and of the Council of Europe. He has a long history of being a loose cannon - or more bluntly - a complete buffoon. The long litany of off-color pronouncements and campaign promises of "vodka for everyone" - and - "underwear" have me wondering how such a man can remain in public office. He is seen here on Georgian National TV.
Georgia is a former Soviet Republic that is currently in a low-grade war with Russia. Zhirinovsky makes it clear that he would like to see Georgia and its neighboring States to cease to exist, in order for there to be a clean border between Russia and Turkey.
His heckling of the GeorgianTV anchorwoman about wine imports quickly escalates into a megalomaniacal diatribe, in which he predicts World War Three, the imminent collapse of the US, Europe and China, leaving Russia as the sole superpower with its "secret weapon."
He threatens Georgia with a tsunami "on the other side of the Caucasus Mountains" and suggests that Japan's tsunami disaster and the "death" of "all 120 million" of its inhabitants are Russia's retribution for Japan's territorial dispute over two small islands North of Hokkaido.
Throughout, the Georgian anchorwoman seems entirely bemused by Zhirinovsky's theatrics...their two countries are in a low-grade war, after all.
It's worthwhile to take a glimpse into his "We will bury you" communist antics and get a feel for the worldview of one of its Old School exponents, particularly because Zhirinovsky continues to hold high offices, after almost 50 years in government.

Q: In recent years, Russian authorities have said that the problem of Russia's entry into the World TradeOrganization arealmost solved. Moscow has reached an agreement with Washington and now Moscow believes that a negotiation with Tbilisi [Georgian capital] be met with no difficulty.
Z: The Russian President and his current administration want Russia's entry into the WorldTradeOrganization. We from the opposition Liberal Democratic Party, we have never advocated that Russia join in the World Trade Organization. We are against it, but the decision is up to the country's current leadership. So, Russia will jointhe World Trade Organizationthis year ornext, with no regard to Georgia's position. If Georgia were to try toblock Russias joining theWorld Trade Organization, they would bring upon themselves a great misfortune.
The world is facing a great financial crisis and possibly a Third World War. Events in North Africa show how it can begin. This is not just my own assessment. European and US Generals are talking about it, because if any drastic measures are taken in Libya, it could lead to very large aggravation. The ultimate objective of the United States and Israel is to destroy Iran. And Iran is right on the border with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Therefore, if Georgia would try to prevent Russia's entry into World Trade Organization, all Georgian businesses in Russia would be destroyed, all Georgian mafia would be forcibly relocated from Russia back to Georgia by military transportand the entire territory of Georgia would be blocked on all borders - by sea, land and air. Georgia would be strangled by the deadly hand of hunger.
Inthe case ofa nuclear attack onIran, millions ofIranian refugees would rushinto the Caucasus. We Russians wouldstop them atthe Azerbaijan border and direct the flow of refugees to Georgia, which it would wipe out completely.10 million refugees, like clouds of locusts would eat Georgia alive, if Georgia would dare to put any obstacles in the way ofRussia joining the World Trade Organization.
Q: How real are Russia's chances of joining the World Trade Organization today?
Z: The chances are100% that Russia willjoin the World TradeOrganization and when the time comes,Russia will alsojoin the EU.
Later, Russia would create a second EU on the basis of Eastern Europe: the Baltic States and our European neighbors. The upside of this would be more opportunities for trade and the ability to export our goods to all World TradeOrganizationmembers. The downside would be thatwewould have toallow the importation of some goodsfrom abroad into Russia that would sell for less than the domestic products. It will be difficult to block the penetration ofthe foreign-made products into Russia. There are pros and cons to membership but if the whole world is in the World Trade Organization, then we would have to join, also.
I do not rule out the eventual collapse of the European Union, the disintegration of the euro area, and the disintegration of NATO, including the dissolution of the World Trade Organization. Later, after the Third World War, some new international organizations will emerge. The beginning of thethe Third World Waris stillin the future.Today,Russia is forced to join the World Trade Organization but myself andmy party, the Liberal Democratic Partyof Russia, weare against the World Trade Organization
Q: Why is Russia unwilling to compromise and allow observers from international organizations to monitor the checkpoint on thePsou River and Roki tunnel, in South Ossetia?
Z: If Russia allows the observers from international organizations there, this would mean that Russia refuses to recognize the independence ofAbkhazia and South Ossetia. Therefore, Russia will notallow this and Georgia will havea dilemma:either to facea sharp deterioration ofthe internal situation in Georgia, including the economic situationorto stop interfering with Russian interests.
My advice would be to quietly give your consent and to forget the whole matter once and for all.The existence ofAbkhazia and South Ossetiais not of interest tothe Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) of Russia. Either they are independent orthey are partsof Georgia -it doesnt matterto us because we are interested in having a direct Russian-Turkish border.
We want no one elses territory tositbetween us (Russia) and Turkey, neither Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Georgia or Azerbaijan. We want to have a Russian-Turkish border to the South and in the West, to have a Russian-German border. These are two boundaries that LDPR party expects to defend in the future. All these odd states between us provoke tensions and the worsening of the situation in the world.
Q: How realistic would it be for theadmission ofthe representatives of a third party? For example, if on behalf of Georgia at the checkpoint there would be European customs officials, following the example of the Transnistria Republic?
Z: I'm not sure. I think that the position of the leadership of Russia is very hard in this matter, and there will be no change. Russia will use America, or some other country, for a leverage against Georgia, so that all issues will be resolved for the benefit of Russia joining the World Trade Organisation. Better for Georgia not to take this direction.Otherwise, Georgia will lose badly. In particular, Georgian President, Saakashvili will lose his power.
Q: Some people in Georgia believe that Moscow is waving a white flag to Georgia, who is blocking Russia's entry to the World Trade Organization, with the promise by Gennady Onishchenko to admit Georgian wines into the Russian market. What would you say to that?
Z: No white flag, no. Dont even hope for that. We have never bowed our heads to anyone. Instead, all the great powers have bowed their heads to Russia: China, Japan, Germany, France, even the United States.
It is beyond the issue of allowing foreign wines to be imported into Russia.I see this as a global issue. We used to block imports from Moldova and Belarus. This isa directlink betweenRussia'sentry tothe World TradeOrganizationand the problems associated with some exports to Russia.I think Russia has enough leverage to influence Georgia and to obtain permission tojoin the World TradeOrganization - with wine or without wine, with customs or no customs, the solution will be found.
We only need four parties to agree: Washington, Moscow, Brussels and China. There are only fourrulingcapitals in theworld - Washington, Brussels, Moscow, Beijing. Thats it. Onlyfour capitalsof the world.Noone elsematters. No one else has any serious influence. The rest of the countries are not players in the international scene. Thefour world capitals will always agree. The players are: Obama, the representatives of the European Union, Medvedev and the representative of China. Thats it.
The four of them will always agree. In this case, the Chinese will come to Moscow and will agree with the position of Moscow. Europeans will arrive to Moscow and will agree with the position ofMoscow. And the Americans will come to Moscow as Biden has now been. And he agreed on everything. No problems. Everything is decided only in the four capitals of the world.
***Furthermore,Washington has no future, this artificial state will collapse andthen old Europe, that continent, which has no importance whatsoever.China is on the verge of explosionand whatwill remain isRussia, possessingorbital launch capability: *space power.*
Russia, withlots of money, resources and new weaponsthatnobody even knows about, yet. With them,WE WILLDESTROY any partof the planetwithin 15 minutes.***Not an explosion, not a rayburst, not somekind of alaser, not a lightning, no, but a quiet and peaceful weapon. Whole continents will be put to sleep forever. And thats all.
You will have to dig in the wreckage and debris of your buildings. And (referring to Japan and their dispute with Russia over the islands off the northern coast of Japan) - ***all of your 120 million people will die, if you will ever demand the Kurile Islands from us!***
***The same goes for the rest of the world.*** Everybody should think about their own future. You allshould startthinking. You talk now about selling your Georgian wine to Russia and you demand UN observers at the border. Do you want the world to forget theword,Georgiacompletely?
It will be Russian-Turkish border instead. President Saakashvili, you think about that!
And then there will be another tsunami ontheother sideoftheplanet. That will be the end, for you.
